Back Country Cafe is truly magical! The atmosphere is cozy, the food is outstanding, and the service always makes me feel right at home. I’m especially thankful for their consistent hours—it’s such a gift to have a reliable spot to enjoy a delicious meal. Five stars all the way!

Atmosphere is more than 5 stars. For those that want Gunnison style food, especially a big breakfast this is the best. Rates very high compared with any place in Colorado featuring this style of food. Even beyond. Sausage, biscuit, gravy, egg, pancake, chicken fried steak, you get the picture. Food is as big as the mountains. Great experience.

Food was prepared as ordered and tasted good. The Waitress provided excellent service. She got the order right, checked for coffee refills, and answered questions about the town. The restaurant and Bathrooms were clean. There is wifi that worked well. Note: there is a service charge for using a credit card.

I don’t give a lot of 5 stars to restaurants because it must be really out of this world to get 5 stars from me. It’s rare. There are a lot of 4 and 4.5’s out there so I reserve the 5’s for the ones who really kill it. These ladies really did an excellent job. I haven’t seen this many staff in one place all week in the valley. It improved their service immensely. They kept the water filled and even brought a pitcher for our part of 5. Others cleared plates and filled coffee. They kept us informed of where we were on the wait list during our short wait too. The build your own omelette was the best item we tried. It had amazing flavor and held together well. I wish the pumpkin pancake had more flavor but it was good. The fruit stuffed walked weren’t actually ‘stuffed’ but had fruit on top. The only real complaint I have is the table syrup over really maple syrup but I know it’s expensive. We also enjoyed the chicken and waffles and a chicken sandwich. The restroom and entire place were clean. The staff were friendly. We enjoyed the murals on the walls and the atmosphere. We’ll be back (next year)!

My daughter, the dog and I stopped here for lunch. They absolutely welcome dogs in the back patio with lots of water bowls. The small town hospitality was clear from the very beginning with the hostess updating us multiple times as we were waiting on a table. Once seated, they brought a water bowl for the dog. The food was very good, and the prices are reasonable for what you get, especially because most of the dishes come with one or multiple side items. The waitress was very friendly and service oriented.

Honestly the best breakfast I’ve ever had or at least in a long time. Visiting from Florida and this place was recommended and omg it was worth it. Emily our server was amazing! She was so attentive and made sure our experience was amazing! I got the chicken fried steak and my significant got the breakfast burrito. Both were amazing, including the left overs later on since we couldn’t finish it all. They serve alcoholic drinks also that were worth it and delicious! Definitely have to check out if ever in gunnison

A great little place to eat breakfast. The service was great and they had a lot of staff which is great because most places are understaffed, but they had a lot of staff to serve all the customers and they were very busy so it was a great experience. The food was very good and we would definitely recommend eating here. We were visiting from Colorado Springs, otherwise we would definitely go back.

Absolutely wonderful place for breakfast. Had a delicious sausage skillet with scrambled eggs and potatoes. Wonderful! Interesting decor inside and wonderful staff!
